President:
The President shall oversee all programs, activities, and events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Business Law Society. The President will represent the Organization with the faculty and the staff. The President will represent the Organization with all other Student Bar Association Organizations.
The President shall preside over all meetings, approve of, and call all Officer actions and make final decisions regarding event dates, budgetary allocations and other such administrative matters in coordination and agreement with the Officers.
Vice-President:
The Vice President shall assist the President in overseeing all programs, activities, and events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Business Law Society. The Vice-President shall assist the President in representing the Organization with the faculty, and the staff. The Vice-President shall assist the President in representing the Organization with all other Student Bar Association Organizations.
In the event of removal of the President, or resignation or temporary or permanent inability to discharge the powers and duties of the Presidential position, the Vice President shall undertake the same powers and duties.
Secretary:
The Secretary shall record the proceedings of every meeting and take minutes for all meetings. The minutes shall include what happened during the meeting, the order in which topics were discussed, any decisions made during the meeting, the outcome of any votes, new business, unfinished business, future business, etc. Minutes will be kept in order to provide a summary of the events as they take place. The Secretary will type the meeting minutes and email them to the rest of the Executive Board no later than 24 hours after the meeting takes place.
In addition, the Secretary shall maintain a current roster of the members of the BLS (current membership needs to be defined, i.e., members who have paid dues). The Secretary will collaborate with the Treasurer of BLS to compile this list.
Finally, the Secretary shall maintain the BLS Facebook Page by adding/removing content as needed and informing all members of the Facebook Page of upcoming events
Treasurer:
The Treasurer shall be responsible for the proper maintenance of all financial accounts of the Business Law Society.
The Treasurer secures funds by completing a Budget Allocation Request Form for Fall and Spring Trimesters, and presents the proposed budget before the Student Bar Association Board of Representatives for approval at each budget hearing. In order to ensure adequate funding, the Treasurer must consider the number of members in the organization and the cost of planned events.
The Treasurer collects membership dues and maintains a record of active members.
The Treasurer makes all disbursements necessary to meet the obligations of Business Law Society with funds allocated by the budget, and ensures that members who incur approved expenses are timely reimbursed.
The Treasurer develops and maintains a Fall and Spring income and expense report or any other report deemed necessary by the President or co-Presidents, and shall be made available to the President upon request.
Public Relations:
Public Relations shall schedule and organize social activities (including fundraisers, mixers, and club social events), help set up and promote social events and mixers, help organize dates for general meetings, put up posters, flyers, and send e-mails to promote general meetings and social events, assist conference chairs with planning Spring Conference, internal publicity and flyering, promotion of club events, find out what events are going on in the community with SDCBA and email to current BLS members.
